I had never seen the 1st one in its entirety. At my young age at the time I was still wrapping my head about time travel. In this picture I show the barrage of bullets Arnold was taking as his flesh is being shredded off to show his exoskeleton.

Vol. 1 - Pg 9,10 & 11- I <3 Terminator 2

Here are some more Terminator 2: Judgement Day inspired pics I had drawn when I was young. Well not really, I'm itching to go see this movie. But before it can come out, you gotta be exposed to the hype machine powered by Hollywood. This is where I learned about trailers. I saw previews, commercials, ET specials, even toys. And all of them consisted of that iconic image. A flaming background with a robot skull. With red lit eyes, it was the most bad ass pic you could ever imagine. I think this was around the time of DC Comics releasing The Death of Superman. I became more interested in Superman during that time. I wanted to see this villain that finally destroys the Man of Steel. Thus I was introduced to Doomsday.

My villain was named Meltdown. I wanted to create some big and menacing, and possessed nuclear powers. He seemed too powerful for the Jah Clan, but was he the right fit for this Jah Clan universe? He was a start though.

Side Note: After looking at Meltdown, he reminded me of the Super Mutants from the video game Fallout 3. Big bruting characters packing weapons, with enough radiation exposure to make you look radiating. One time I saw this Unsolved Mysteries episode (hosted by Ultra Magnus' Robert Stack). They relived this incident about a kid who had jumped off a cliff. Turns out the parents looked into his room, and found a D&D RPG guide, that if you took a leap of faith, you'd level up. Something on thoses lines, but the way the show reenacted the D&D rituals scared the hell out of me.

Later on, I was shown these books by a friend about stories that spin out of the D&D universe. I liked some of the spot illustrations between the chapters. So I asked to borrow the book and started copying some of the characters. Later on, a store popped up in our local mall called "Leisure World". It was a heaven for RPG fans. I went there to see other D&D artwork, as well as other RPG series.

Vol 1. - Pg 4 - Marvel at my Wolverine

Wolverine, 1 of many X-men I was introduced to back then. Spot varnishes, metallic inks, power stats on the back. Better than baseball cards for sure. You'll noticed Wolverine is a bit off the page. As a kid I loved those robot induced after school shows. Something like Transformers, Voltron, GO-BOTS (uughh), and other anime series (Sabre Rider and the Star Sheriffs anyone?). I'll remember to save that as another bookmark later on.

Vol 1. - Pg 1 - The obligatory Spiderman sketch, get use to it.

I loved watching the Spiderman cartoon series when I was a young child. I started drawing in this book since 1991. I was taking art classes at the Pickering Recreation Complex where I met Moria Duhunney (not sure if I spelt that correctly). Every Saturday morning I would come to "The Rec" and practice drawing techniques like drawing apples and abtract shapes like positive and negative shapes. Lot of excerises, I even took it with me to school to doodles and practice as well.

Let's Start This Off With A Poster

Hello, and welcome to the 1st ever blog posting on Full Scale e Assault. Back in 2002 when I was a student at George Brown College, I had the pleasure of submitting my work for the graduating class showcase. Top displays would then go on to the Grad Show held at the Design Exchange in Toronto, Canada.

Let's cut it short, I didn't get that far. There's a lot that can be said on the whole judging process,, but I don't want to get into those details as of right now. So for my theme of the grad show, we were given limitations. One be space, approximately 20x30 inches of black bristol board. A lot of my fellow students wanted to showcase all their work. So they'd reduce all their samples on the photocopier, and paste it on looking like a collage. Instead, I looked at the space as advertising opportunity. I figured I'd create my design as like a a movie poster. Kind of like seeing those light boxes at the cinema (Owhhhh I should have done that, light my display up) and decided to tease the audience of some of the samples I could do. And that's where I came up with a title "Full Scale Assault" It was my take to bombard my viewing audience with a taste of everything that I was able to design, . Whether it be ads, print , logos, illustrations, web design, cartoons, comics, you name it, I've probably designed it.

I used a Nokian font, fr on old school Nokia phones, you know the brick sized ones, and cut out the initials F.S.A. Using that block font , I made thumbnails of some of my school projects I did. Now instead of using the cliche tank image or army weapon of choice., I decided to use a giant Macross mech. Whhaaaaaa? Yes it got more attention than I thought. Mostly because of the fascination with Asian students who knew little English, attached easily to this image of robot. After the show,

I decided to take my piece and hang it in my room, however it was collecting dust and fading from sun exposure. Also printing the piece was a pain, I had to print in "tile mode" which was so ghetto at the time. So that was how it came to be, So now I've re-released a new poster on the same idea, except I used a images a a solider rally. Have a look see.
